About Westminster Christian Academy

Westminster Christian Academy is a licensed childcare program designed for infants through pre-school age children to learn and grow in the love of Christ. A dedicated staff provides a variety of activities to nurture all children in our care through art, music, group and individual play. A Christian curriculum is the foundation for our program in order to foster an early love for Jesus and His teachings

What is the purpose of the Westminster Christian Academy (WCA)?

The academy has always been considered a mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church. The WCA staff keeps this focus in mind as it strives to provide the children in its care the very finest in Christian education. The on-going mission work of volunteers from the church family enables the WCA to nurture the hearts, minds, and souls of all those associated with this mission.

Who makes the decisions about WCA?

While the day to day decisions are in the capable hands of the director, the policy decisions are handled by the WCA Board of Directors.

Who is on the WCA Board of Directors?

The present board is comprised of two parents with children in the WCA, three members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church congregation, two Session members (one serves as chairperson of the board), and the WCA director. The director of the WCA is the only non-voting member of the board.

How is the church leadership kept in the loop with WCA?

The chairperson of the board and the director of WCA are both members of the Christian Life and Nurture Committee. This committee reports to the session and brings the will of the session to the WCA Board.

Who supports the WCA financially?

Funds for the WCA come from several sources. The tuition of the children now attending the Academy pays for the staff, curriculum materials, snacks, equipment, facilities changes that are required to meet state regulations, and other day to day needs. Funds also come from donations, some of which have been earmarked for scholarships. The session’s budget covers a portion of the director’s salary, maintains the WCA facilities, makes available the use of the church staff to do payroll and the volunteers to help answer the phone.
