Westminster Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women

One of the best ways to know people at Westminster is by being a member of a Circle. Through sharing, Bible study, worshiping together in small groups, forming relationships of mutual concern and support for each other, the church and the world can be built.

There are three Circles at Westminster and we hope you will join one of these. They meet monthly from September - May, and combined Circles meet in the summer. You will find the list of our meetings in the bulletin, Westwind, and this website. If you would like a different time or format, please let Dianne Hix know about your interest at 706-235-1028.

We are still seeking persons for the Photographer and Scrapbook/History positions.  If this is something you feel led to do, give me a call at 706-234-7341 for more details, etc.

Our Circles

Like circles begun by pebbles thrown in water, Westminster Presbyterian Church Circles grow stronger with each member. New church members will be contacted by Dianne Hix, PW Vice Moderator. If you are not currently in a circle but would like to be, contact Dianne at 706-235-1028 and join today. Visitors are always welcome.

Our Ministry

Education: This year the Circles will study Horizons' Above and Beyond: Hearing God's Call in Jonah and Ruth.

Fellowship: Monthly Circle meetings, Come See Columbia Day, PW Birthday Program, and PW Mission Opportunity Workday provide fellowship opportunities.

Service: Our Circles participate in numerous projects and services to benefit the church, the community, and the world. It is through sharing God's love that we serve on the various Session committees at Westminster.

Stewardship: The Circles support PW work at the Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly levels with donations over and above our pledge to the church. There are offerings for world mission projects including Presbyterian Homes, Samaritan's Purse, Santa Claus Express, Thank Offering, and Least Coin Offering.

Mission Haven Collection Month

During the month of April, Westminster's Presbyterian Women will be collecting needed supplies for Mission Haven. Located next to Columbia Seminary in Decatur, GA. Mission Haven provides short-term lodging for missionaries studying at Columbia or other local schools. It also houses missionaries in transition after retirement or at the end of their term of service.

Come See Columbia Day! Thursday, April 17

Come See Columbia  Day is a wonderful day set aside just for Presbyterian Women across the south. There will be an inspiring message from Dr. T. Erskine Clarke, Professor of American Religious History. For more information contact Carolyn Richardson or Elizabeth Busby.

Presbyterian Women Celebrate Their 20th Anniversary

As long as there have been women, there have been women’s organizations in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and its predecessor denominations.  Presbyterian Women came into formal existence on July 15, 1988 with the merger of United Presbyterian Women and the Women of the Church (PCUS), following the reunion of the church. Thus, 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of Presbyterian Women in the PCUSA.  Watch for special projects in honor of the 20th anniversary.
